We also purchase a number of Aquacultured and Propagated corals and MAC Certified, Aquacultured and Tank-Raised Fish to reduce our environmental footprint. We do not purchase any livestock collected with cyanide.

About Our Store

Discovery Aquatics is different than other saltwater fish specialty stores. We are certainly not the biggest, but we are the best at serving our customers. A Fishy Story

As far back as he can remember, Jake Hagberg has always had an aquarium. Like many hobbyists, he began with a simple freshwater tank filled with tetras. At age ten, he was inspired by a family friend to start his first saltwater aquarium.

At age sixteen, he earned a job at PetSmart, where he learned the importance and value of exceptional customer service. As a result, customers often asked him to set up and maintain their aquariums. In response to the growing demand, Jake started an aquarium setup and maintenance company, known today as Discovery Aquatics.

As business continued to grow, the decision to open a storefront was made. Jake wanted the store to be different. A place where reef enthusiasts found premium corals and beginner hobbyists received honest advice.

Jake has also completed his education at the University of St. Thomas, where he holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Entrepreneurship. Jake was also a featured guest on the Talking Reef Podcast.
