Aquarium Pests
Most saltwater aquarists and fish stores are unaware of the pests that arrive on new livestock. Discovery Aquatics takes a proactive approach by treating all of corals with ReVive to help prevent these pests from getting to you.
Brown and Red Flatworms - The most common of all aquarium pests. These creatures are small and are most noticeable on the aquarium glass. They can cause corals to stop expanding and release a toxin when killed.
Sundial Snails - These hitchhikers feed on zoanthid polyps and can range from the size of a pinhead to a quarter. They are usually yellow and black and are difficult to find until they reach adult size.
Nudibranchs - There are many different species of nudibranchs, but montipora eating nudibranchs can quickly destroy beautiful montipora colonies. They are small and hard to identify. Look for their eggs on the underside of the coral.
Little Red Bugs - These pests are microscopic and cause irritation to acropora, sometimes resulting in RTN or STN.
Acropora Eating Flatworms - Another microscopic pest which eats the flesh of acropora. They are difficult to see, but their eggs can usually be seen at the base of an infected colony.
